People worth knowing
InspireImagine a mural that promotes education, diversity, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). With careful consideration, a group of nine, diverse people influential in STEM were chosen. Through their lives and achievements we can learn the importance of education as a means of success and passion as a lifestyle.
Why a mural? Art and science are more closely connected than many realize. Just as an artist sees the contour, shading and depth in a human hand, the scientist and engineer see its pulse, organ systems, and dexterity. Both subjects are deeply intertwined through this fascination for the world around them and the possibilities of their field. The mural seeks to connect both of these aspects of knowledge. It does this through its artistic components, as well as the historically significant persons, the spiral galaxy as a natural fractal, Pythagoras' spiral, and the golden ratio.
